Iodoform powder used as dressing for treatment of extracted sockets as it is a mild analgesic which also acts as an antiseptic agent when reacting with wound secretions and fatty acids, Iodoform frees iodine to generate by combination with protein substances which acts an active germicide.

Prevention of periodontal infections, Post extraction disinfecting dressing, Disinfection of maxillary cavities.
